AUHS Foundation Hosts “Backing Our Future” Backpack Event
American University of Health Sciences Foundation would like to share the success of our first backpack drive to help underserved elementary school children in our community. Thanks to the generous donations from corporate and individual supporters and AUHS faculty and staff, AUHS Foundation was able to purchase 500 backpacks and fill them with school supplies for students at Lafayette Elementary School, Bobbi Smith Elementary School, Signal Hill Elementary School and Lutheran Social Services of Southern California’s lunch program participants.

With the help of volunteer students, we sorted, packed and delivered the backpacks this week into the hands of eager and grateful students and school counselors who work hard everyday to try to meet the needs of their low-income students. With these backpacks, AUHS Foundation is giving disadvantaged youths the tools they need to succeed at learning. Attached are a photos of volunteers working hard and a few student recipients and their families. These photos will also be posted on AUHS Foundation’s website, www.auhsfoundation.org in the next few weeks.

If you would like to sponsor a backpack for next year’s “Backing Our Future” Campaign, please visit our Donation Page on AUHS Foundation’s website, www.auhsfoundation.org Every dollar counts towards making a brighter future for underserved children.
